NO GROUND SHIPPING on any new orders to CA, OR, WA until Spring due to high risk of freeze damage en route from here in South Carolina. Thanks for your understanding! Air rates have gone up substantially and will rise again on 2024 but the exact amount is based on your exact address, the size of the box and weight of the packed order and varies greatly due to those factors.

Welcome to Marble Branch Farms! Our goal is to offer your high quality orchid plants with an emphasis on miniature and compact Cattleya alliance hybrids. We also have developed our own breeding program in order to provide a source for new and unique orchid hybrids that aren’t being offered elsewhere. The first results of those efforts are included in our current listing, with many more to follow. We will be adding a significant number of our own crosses to our offerings during 2015 - so stay in touch!

We have worked hard to produce clear, true-color,high quality photographs of the plants we sell! So we invite you to enjoy the exceptional beauty of blooming orchids as you browse & shop our online catalog!

Our minimum order before shipping is $20. We ship to any location within the lower 48 states exclusively though United Parcel Service (UPS). We appreciate you stopping by and invite you to browse through our catalog!

PLEASE NOTE: We normally ship only ONCE per week. Orders received and paid for during each week from Monday through Sunday will be shipped the following Monday or Tuesday unless weather conditions are prohibitive, in which case your order will be held until favorable conditions return. In such cases we will contact you to advise you that shipping of your order is being delayed.

PLEASE NOTE: We are not a florist and are not a supplier of blooming "gift plants." While we appreciate all orders including those intended as a gift, please be aware that we are a small company with limited stock and what plants we have in bloom are often quickly sold at orchid shows and speaking engagements throughout the year. If we happen to have any of the plants you order in bud at the time, we will ship them and protect the buds as thoroughly as possible. Open flowers are delicate and will usually be damaged in shipment therefore we will usually not ship a plant with fully open flowers unless that is our only option. We will not be responsible for damage in shipment to buds or flowers. Read our shipping info page for details about our refund and replacement policy.

ORCHID NOMENCLATURE

Hopefully, the last major change in genera in the Cattleya Alliance has come out with the publishing of Genera Orchidacaearum Vol. 5 in the spring of 2009, in which all the Brazilian species formerly listed under Laelia and Sophronitis have been absorbed into Cattleya! All new entries into our catalog will bear the newly adopted names, and we will work on updating the older listings to bring them into line also. It will take some getting used to, but the new genus classifications, and their effect on the 'man made' genera under which hybrids are registered is both inevitable and widespread. So whether we like it or not, a lot of familiar orchids will have new hybrid genus names from now on! With the recent revisions, however, many names will simplify. We will endeavor to explain the genetic background of the names you may not yet be familiar with!

The reasons for all the changes have been based on genetic research. Through studying orchids at this level it has become easier to understand what species are closely related and what species are not. Rather than stubbornly hold onto the names of the past, we accept these changes as more logical in their approach. And, since the changes have been adopted by the Royal Horticultural Society, who is also responsible for the registration of all new orchid hybrids, any new crosses named, and all awards given to existing hybrids will all be listed under the new genera changes, so we might as well get used to them!
