New! This is a unique color form of a miniature Brazilian species that grows only a few inches tall and can produce flowers larger than the plant itself. It lives in mild to warm rainforests where it receives frequent moisture but growing where the roots dry rather quickly. In late summer into autumn flower buds are enveloped in developing new growth and emerge without a bloom sheath. They can be between 3 and 4 inches in size on a fully established plant. In this form the sepals and petals and near white while the lip is stained in vivid purple. We do not recommend this orchid for beginners because it requires frequent attention to correct watering and humidity to flourish, but it is a great choice for someone who has their own indoor controlled growing area and wants something different and unusual.
