New! Inset photo shows the first to bloom for us - nice 6 inch flower! This new cross is somewhat speculative in terms of results. It is 25% Brassavola nodosa so that starry shape will dominate but with a fuller appearance and larger size. It is 25% large purple cattleya and 50% large yellow cattleya. How the color plays out, especially in how much yellow there will be, will have to wait for the first to flower to discover. Expect large flowers with fragrance in summer to winter on plants that approach standard size, with beautiful patterns of color in the lip. The first to bloom was nearly a semi-alba, but the white segments became pale yellow after about a week. So beautiful it sold in minutes at a speaking engagement in Columbia SC.
