Product Description

Brassocattleya Keowee ‘Mendenhall’ AM/AOS (large 2.5” pot mericlone)
New! While this orchid was originally introduced over 50 years ago, it still remains one of the most showy and impressive hybrids between Brassavola nodosa and a large flowered cattleya ever made. Subsequent attempts to remake the cross never produced the results of the original, and so this is a mericlone of the first and best awarded variety, which received an Award of Merit from the American Orchid Society in October 1975. The growth habit is tight and upright, ultimately topping out at about 12 inches. It can take a couple of years for the plants to reach enough critical mass to start flowering, but the impressive and fragrant flowers up to 5 inches across are worth the wait. Five yellow segments frame a large lip with an intricate pattern of bright purple and deep yellow. And older plant will have multiple leads in flower in the bloom season which can begin as early as June, and peak in October and November. Your individual conditions may affect the exact timing. While not blooming size, we recommend getting one now while the supply still exists.
