Dendrobium Touch of Tangerine (3.5” pot blooming size)
New! Here is another great new “antelope flowered” Dendroibum that is easy to grow, floriferous and long lasting. The name is more of a reflection of the parents used in the cross (Den. Touch of Gold x tangerinum) than the actual color of the flowers, which are in shades of yellow to “butterscotch.” Neat evergreen plants will grow into bushy specimens with time and can have dozens of spikes and hundreds of flowers when mature. Each growth flowers multiple times from the upper portions of the canes and individual flowers last 2 to 4 months. Plants will spike in flushes at various times of the year, so a well grown plant will be in flower more often than not. Like other members of the “antelope” group, this Dendrobium likes bright light, regular watering and good drainage. Plants should dry between watering, but generally will need water once to twice per week. The more thoroughly soaked they are when watered, the longer they can go until the next. Direct sun is not required, but plants will tolerate a sunny south or west window well. The will also perform well under LED lights – we use inexpensive LED “shop lights” that put out 3200 lumens and are easily available at home improvement stores and find they work just as well as fancy, expensive fixtures. These are nice plants reaching flowering size in 3.5” pots. Keep them somewhat underpotted for best flowering and only repot when new roots are forming on developing growths for the best transition into a new container. These are seed grown plants, not clones, so there is slight variation from one to the next in the color, size and spacing of the flowers.
