Product Description

Dendrobium Miva Abracadabra (3.5 pot blooming size)
New! This showy, unusual and floriferous Dendrobium is genetically and visually very similar to Den. QF Mauka, and is a 50/50 mix of Den. atroviolaceum and Den. polysema. It has club shaped pseudobulbs topped by two or three wide, evergreen leaves and the flowers look nearly identical. The main difference is that stays a couple of inches shorter than Den. QF Mauku, with perhaps a couple fewer flowers per spike, but still up to a dozen when happy. Plants generally top out near 12 inches or somewhat less with the long lasting blooms coming on arching spikesemerging from between the leaves. The outside of the buds and therefore the back of the open flowers is covered in mossy looking hairs and liberally dusted with dark purple spots. The face of the flower is cream to chartreuse with strong purple lines on the lip. The overall effect, because of the number of spikes and flowers produced, is both unusual and impressive. This Dendrobium falls into the Latouria Section, a group of species that come primarily from New Guinea, usually in dappled light in rain forests at a variety of elevations. They like regular watering with only slight drying in between, but also do best in a mix that drains very well. They can grow beautifully in typical household temperatures year round, but will also be fine anywhere from say 50F to 95F. They do exceptionally well under LED lights, but on the windowsill prefer filtered light rather than direct sun. These are blooming size plants in 3.5 square pots that are beautifully grown and may arrive with flowers and/or developing spikes since they are in flower so often. Keep them slightly potbound for best flowering. If you feel the urge to repot, wait for two or three new growths first.
