Product Description

Cattlianthe Fire Island 'Fiery,' HCC/AOS (4" pot blooming size)
New! A Classic Returns! The stunning , winter blooming, cluster flowered cattleya was introduced by the Beall Orchid Co. of Seattle in 1968. For five decades that firm created more than 750 new orchid hybrids, and this is one that has stood the test of time. Compact growing, unifoliate plants will produce spikes of up to 10 four-inch, long lasting flowers each winter on all the growths that matured the following season. The color of these elegantly shaped flowers is just what you need to brighten up the dull days of February and March, described by American Orchid Society judges as “sepals and petals tangerine orange; lip cherry red; texture sparkling.” Its genealogy includes a dozen different species from varied habitats in Central and South America, contributing to a plant that can adapt to a range of conditions, is tolerant of casual cultural practices, but will also reward excellent care by becoming a showy specimen with time. We are offering beautifully grown, tissue cultured replicas of the original awarded plant that are in sheath in 4 inch round pots that should flower for the first time in early 2022. They will continue to improve with time and good care and become a welcome addition to your collection. Typical “cattleya culture” of bright light (natural or LED lights), regular watering but with drying in between to promote new and healthy roots, and light feeding while in active growth will produce rewarding results.
