Rhyncolaeliocattleya Orquidacea’s Eldorado ‘Hawaii’ (3.5” pot near blooming size mericlone)
We wish we had many plants of this incredible orchid to sell, but most of the couple dozen we obtained were quickly snatched up during or winter/spring show season, and for good reason! A marriage of two famous orchids, Rlc. Oconee ‘Mendenhall’ and C. Wendy’s Valentine ‘June,’ this compact grower produces amazing 5 inch fragrant flowers on a compact growing plant. You can see in our photo that a single flower almost hides the entire plant, and mature plants can have 3 to the spike, coming typically twice per year. Our photo reads just a shade too bright, so note that the flowers open rich red purple, but mature in about a week to as close to true red as you will see in a cattleya, with a slightly deeper lip that has two bold golden yellow “eye spots.” You can easily see why this rare beauty was named for the elusive, fabled city of gold that explorer’s searched for, but never found. In this case the treasure can be yours if you act quickly. One per customer please!
