Product Description

Dendrobium Aussie’s Chip (3 inch pot blooming size)
New! This is a great miniature New Guinea type Dendrobium that seems to have universal appeal. A cross between Den. aberrans and Den atroviolaceum, it makes a bushy 5 to 6 inch tall evergreen plant that it covered with cute speckled flowers for many months each year, especially from January to June, but often at other times as well. They are exceptionally long lasting and are borne repeatedly on mature growths year after year so that as the plant matures, the number of flowers continues to go up. One of the plants we sold a couple of years ago recently received both an Award of Merit and a Certificate of Cultural Merit from the American Orchid Society judging center in Atlanta! The plants we are selling now are already quite bushy and just reaching blooming size. Keep in mind that the most recent growths do not produce blooms the first year, only the older growths, so though there may be just a few stems of flowers in their first blooming cycle, that number will rapidly increase in the future. Grow these with regular watering year round and good drainage. They do not want to stay dry for long, especially when they are making new growths, though with regular watering they can be grown mounted as well. Medium light will still produce blooms, but they will grow well in moderately bright light as well, and like a range of temperatures from 60 to 85, with tolerance for somewhat higher and lower. They are excellent “windowsill” orchids. We have a great supply of these for now, but when show season begins and they are seen in person by those visiting our sales area, they disappear as fast as we can put them out!
