Catyclia Royal Burgundy (E. cordigera x L. purpurata forma striata)

Catyclia Royal Burgundy (E. cordigera x L. purpurata forma striata)
Item# fr55

Product Description

This is a remake of a 1966 registration made by W. Goodale Moir, an orchid hybridizer who was ahead of his time! We used the 'rosea' form of E. cordigera with its solid purple lip, and the 'striata' form of C. purpurata with its beautiful purple veined petals in this version. The exact parents are shown in the above photo. There are no known images of the original hybrid, but we expect strong upright spikes or beautiful flowers, facing all directions, with rich shades of purple and a great fragrance in this hybrid. They should be late spring bloomers and last very well. These are already in individual pots and will be ready to sell upon completion of their next growth, so probably by fall of 2010. Only a few plants resulted from this one, so let us know if you are interested in being notified when they are released.
