Enanthleya Banana Split (3" pot near blooming size)

Product Description

We are excited to be able to offer this great cross between Encyclia cordigera and Cattlianthe Pixie again! It was a big hit for us a few years ago and has finally been re-made. Compact plants that highly favor the Encyclia parent produce long lasting, upright clusters of sweetly fragrant flowers in late winter through spring. While there is some variation, the general pattern is for bright yellow to ivory sepals and petals and a cherry red to purple lip, with each flower about 2.5 to 3 inches across. Most from our previous batch were outstanding and many people have asked us if more would be available. These are now in 3 inch pots and should bloom in the coming season for the first time. We suggest that in the future, when new roots are present, they be shifted to clay pots or baskets with a coarse, excellent draining medium for best results. They will also do very well mounted and will eventually become showy specimens. Other than good drainage, they aren’t terribly fussy plants, doing well in a range of temperatures, and with bright filtered to very bright light. The flowers can last up to 3 months, though they may fade somewhat in the last few weeks, just so you know they aren’t artificial! One of our favorite orchids!
