Dendrobium amethystoglossum (3.5" pot large blooming size)
New batch! This stunning winter to spring blooming species from the section Calcarifera comes from the mountainous northwestern part of Luzon in the Philippines where it receives high rainfall in summer and continued moisture from dew and mist the balance of the year. Newly matured canes, plus many of the older leafless canes will sprout out with numerous pendant clusters densely packed with charming white flowers with a bright amethyst lip in winter to spring. As plants mature, the show can be spectacular for about a month or so each year. Water and fertilize frequently once new growth commences in spring until mature in fall, then water somewhat less and withhold fertilizer during winter to help set buds. While the plants should not stay dry for extended periods, temperatures in the 55 to 60 degree range will help encourage the formation of flowers. This Dendrobium is a fairly shaded grower, doing well in “Phalaenopsis” light levels or in the shadows cast by your Cattleyas. We are offering nice mature sized palnts with 3 to 5 canes capable of producing multiple spikes in the coming season.
